The decision at a glance
If ten simultaneous devices cover your use, compare both on your real networks and renewal terms. If you need more, Surfshark‘s allowance is a reason to investigate, not proof of better performance or a business-access solution.

Research checked September 9, 2026. This update combines official-document review with editorial buying guidance. It is not a new hands-on test or a measured performance ranking. Prices and availability can vary by country, account, and purchase channel.
Compare the bill you will actually receive
A multi-year offer’s monthly equivalent is not a monthly payment plan. Record the amount charged today, the period it covers, the renewal amount, optional extras, and the cancellation route. Surfshark notes that subscriptions purchased through third-party app stores are managed there. Verify the applicable terms for your purchase channel instead of assuming every refund or renewal rule is identical.
Test the networks you use
Try your normal video call, a large file transfer, and the websites required for work on home and travel networks where testing is permitted. Check reconnection after sleep and after changing Wi-Fi. Keep notes on interruptions and compatibility. Results from one location or server do not justify a universal fastest claim, and this update does not invent one.
Keep expectations realistic
A consumer VPN changes how network traffic reaches the internet; it is not a guarantee of anonymity, protection from every scam, or safe handling of a compromised device. Keep account security, updates, and phishing awareness as separate responsibilities. Check whether employer or client policy allows the service before routing work traffic through it.
Do not use device allowance as a team policy
A high device limit does not provide individual employee identities, centralized offboarding, or permission rules for internal applications. If you are selecting access for contractors or a remote team, evaluate a business access product against those requirements. Do not share one consumer login as a substitute for an accountable access design.
Choose using a short network checklist
Record the operating systems you need, the number of simultaneous connections, and any work services that must remain reachable. Test a video call, sleep-and-resume, and a Wi-Fi change. Record failures as well as successes. A product can be suitable on your home connection and inconvenient on the network you use while travelling; that difference belongs in your decision.
Compare renewal totals side by side
Use the same coverage period for both offers. Record today’s charge and the next renewal charge separately, including optional bundles and taxes where shown. If one price is a monthly equivalent paid upfront and the other is month-to-month, label that distinction. The lower advertised number may require a longer commitment and does not automatically mean a lower renewal bill.
What this comparison does not establish
We have not run a new speed, streaming, or security benchmark for this update. No numeric score or universal fastest label is warranted. A consumer VPN is also not a substitute for device updates, secure accounts, or company access controls. Treat those as separate layers and follow the policies that apply to your work.
When to choose a business product instead
If you need to remove one contractor without affecting everyone else, restrict access to an internal service, or assign policy by identity, use a business access evaluation. Sharing one consumer login across a team makes accountability and offboarding harder, even when the device allowance appears generous.
Before you choose
- Count simultaneous devices.
- Record upfront and renewal totals.
- Test normal work on permitted networks.
- Use individual business access where required.
